The Mercedes S-Class Coupé Concept shows its face

The new S-Class received very positive reviews and Mercedes wants to take advantage of that by presenting the coupe version, creating what Mercedes describes as "an automotive masterpiece", and a "design icon and an expression of modern luxury“ that uses the brand's design philosophy "sensual clarity".

This new coupe has a front similar to the one in the Saloon and Estate, but the rear seems to have taken inspiration from the SLS AMG. The long bonnet, dropping rear lines, high beltline, accentuated wheel arches and 21-inch wheels give this car a modern and sporty look. With a wheelbase of 2945mm, this concept has 5050mm in length, 1958mm in width and 1409mm in height. This means it's a long and low car, exactly as a coupé should be.

According to Mercedes, the white interior exudes sensual clarity, remembering the design language used on the exterior. It also features a large 12.3-inch screen, similar to the one in the new S-Class, a smaller touch-screen in the center console shows four world clocks. You can choose what time zones are shown.

Most of the metal parts in the interior are made from aluminum, but the center console uses the chemical CVD (chemical vapour deposition) gas phase process to deposit a precious metal on a high-sheen chrome surface at temperatures of 1000°C, creating a layer that is highly scratch-resistant and has a high adhesive strength. This method is called "black diamond". The rest of the interior is made from supple calfskin and hand-woven silk.

The S-Class Coupé is powered by a 4.7-liter, V8, bi-turbo petrol engine that develops 456PS (335kW or 449bhp) and 700Nm (516lb/ft). To help you get the most out of this car, Mercedes fitted it with the "Intelligent Drive" technology. This system combines two cameras, a radar and ultrasound sensors to help reduce the burden on the driver by warning him to objects, people and road signs.

The suspension also makes use of the stereo camera by detecting surface undulations in advance and working together the MAGIC BODY CONTROL system adjusts the suspension in advance.
