Nissan reveals the new X-Trail (Rogue in the U.S.A.)


Frankfurt was the venue chosen by Nissan to unveil the all-new X-Trail (if you live in the U.S., its name is Rogue) compact sport utility vehicle. This SUV will be one sale from July 2014 and will be built in different manufacturing sites around the world to supply all markets where it is sold.

This new X-Trail features a less boxy look, having a more sleek, dynamic and stylish lines. Inside, Nissan wants to give this vehicle a more premium feel. hey believe they achieved this with chrome, geometric metallic and piano black finishes, optional leather with contrasting stitch accents, and the also optional third row of seats so it can sit seven.

The X-Trail is the first Nissan to have the latest generation of the NissanConnect in-car navigation, information and entertainment system. NissanConnect is controlled through a 7-inch color touch-screen, and now also offers smartphone connectivity.

The engine line-up wasn't revealed, but Nissan says they did a lot of work trying to reduce friction, and increase performance and fuel efficiency. The X-Trail also features the electronic four-wheel drive system, ALL MODE 4x4i. This is controlled through a rotary switch on the center console, it offers a choice between two-wheel drive, Auto mode or Lock, offering permanent four-wheel drive.

Electronic aids include Active Ride Control, Active Engine Brake, Active Trace Control, Uphill Start Support and Advance Hill Descent Control.
