Official: Renault finally reveals the Twin'Run concept, pays homage to the R5 Turbo and Clio V6 [Video]


It seems that this concept is not called Twin'Fun but rather Twin'Run (We already saw it). It was created to celebrate the sporty spirit of the French brand, in addition to paying tribute to the legendary R5 Turbo and Clio V6. The public presentation took place during the Monaco Grand Prix, in front of hundreds of spectators.

This new concept is based on the Twin'Z concept, taking its design to a new level, and like the Twin'Z, it follows the brand's design strategy based on the notion of the human life cycle (Love -> Dezir, Explore -> Captur, Family -> R-Space, Work -> Frendzy, Play -> Twin'Z/Twin'Run, and Wisdom -> ???).

The red and blue paint was applied in the car in order to enhance the shape of the car, giving it a more aggressive appearance, while the number 5 painted on the doors refers to the R5 Turbo. The four extra lights on the front also refers to the legendary rally car.

The car is made from a steel tube chassis, with a composite material bodywork and a mid-engine engine derived from Mégane Trophy. The body is actually made from a glass-polyester material, but some parts, like the front blade, roof, rear vent and wheel arches, are made out of carbon fiber.

The engine is the V4Y/VQ35 engine from the Renault-Nissan Alliance, also used in another road models like the Laguna, Espace and Latitude. This V6 unit has 3.5 liters and produces 320PS (316hp or 235kW) at 6800rpm and 380Nm (280lb/ft) at 4850rpm. Helping drive the rear wheels is a six-speed SADEV sequential gearbox with limited slip differential.

It has an unladen weight of just 950 kg. The top speed is limited to 250km/h (155mph) and can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in just 4.5 seconds. Helping put the power on the road are 18 inch wheels with Michelin tires and OHLINS with two-way spring-damper combinations. When you want to stop, you can trust the large vented discs with 6 piston calipers on the front and 4 at the back.

The interior is based on racing cars, so it is very simple. It's upholstered in black and red “alcantara effect” suede, it has bucket seats, aluminum pedals, motorsports steering wheel, sequential gear lever and has uses a 5.5 inch LCD screen for the instrument panel.
