Aston Martin will race a hybrid hydrogen Rapide S at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring

Aston Martin announced today that it will participate in the 41º edition of the ADAC Zurich 24 Hours of Nürburgring, that will take place from 17 to 20 May. But this participation is special, because the British brand will bring a hybrid hydrogen Rapide S to Germany.

Their objective is to have the first hydrogen-powered car to take part in an international event as well as the first zero CO2 emissions sports car to complete a lap at the Nürburgring 24-hour race.

Aston Martin joined forces with hydrogen experts Alset Global, creating a new twin turbocharged 6.0 liter V12 engine that will power the car at the 24 hours of Nürburgring. The carbon fiber tanks that hold the 3,5kg of hydrogen are so safe they can withstand a pressure of 350bar.
