Engine reliability study. German brands on the bottom, Japanese on top.

Warranty Direct used the data from its claims to create a study listing the most reliable engines from 36 car manufacturers, with the Japanese brands coming first and the Germans near the end.

The Germans have always had a reputation for producing cars with great quality, deserved or not it seems that isn't actually true. BMW, Audi and Volkswagen are all on the worst 10, while Mercedes is in the top 10.

Honda takes the top spot and Toyota, even with all the recalls and problems they had, is second. Mercedes is the best of the German brands in third place.
